TESTIMONIAL

Check out the testimonial we got for our recent bathroom remodel!

"We would like to thank you all for your work on our bathroom remodel.  We're very happy with the outcome; it exceeds our expectations.  We greatly appreciate the added care you took to minimize any disruptions or inconveniences during the remodeling process.  Without being asked you took precautions to minimize dust, left the job site clean each day, removed all waste materials from our home, took special consideration for our family pet, and checked in with us periodically throughout the project to see if we had any concerns.  We will certainly call you first for any future work, and without hesitation would recommend you to others."

T&G Article: JMG Woodworking

"Layoffs push some to take plunge as entrepreneurs"

READ MORE: Worcester Telegram & Gazette 9/2/12

Jim Gevry, 31, also saw opportunity from a layoff, since he had experienced enough instability in his 10-year career to last a lifetime and was looking for something a little more sure-footed.

Mr. Gevry, an interior woodworker and cabinetmaker, had spent the past 10 years working his way up the ladder to become a project manager for different Worcester-based companies. But he found it unsettling that every time money got tight the project manager would be the first to be laid off.

“That kind of job is expendable when it's time to cut corners,” he said.

For him, the logical — but nerve-wracking — choice was to venture out on his own. He now takes on jobs at his own pace, doing business as JMG Woodworking. Though he worries about the bills over the course of the next few years, it is so far, so good.

“It's stressful, but I'm busy,” he said. “I haven't had any trouble getting jobs, even though I am kind of learning as I go.”

Rectory Built-In

Before picture (left): a shallow home depot cabinet resting on top of the big ugly safe. It could barely fit copy paper!  St. Brigid CYC.

Starsky's Hutch

I've reached a new level with this one!

Our client wanted a country/primitive style hutch with a barn board back and a very eclectic layout. They also wanted specific sizes for displaying some family heirloom china. As you can see, this is a very eclectic layout with bead board raised panels, solid maple drawer front and some custom toggle locks just like an old arts & crafts period hutch.

The dish rack in the upper cabinet holds up to 13 plates, and there is ample storage with adjustable shelving in the base cabinets. The client also requested that we use as much reclaimed wood as we could.

I was able to utilize enough scrap wood to make over 50% of the parts! That saves them money, and it helped me clear out some space for more stock. I also managed to use an old dining room table top for some adjustable shelves. I'd have to say, this is one unique hutch.

If you like this, or have any other furniture pieces in mind, give me a call and we can discuss what your vision is.

Stay tuned for the final product...
painted some fun colors with unique knobs/handles!

Surprise Storage!

In Action!
This pet feeding station was designed for my dad's dog, Riley. She loves it! It is 12" high and about 22" long with two large stainless steel bowls. It's made of cherry veneer plywood with hardwood edge banding.

Other than looking extremely attractive, this feeder has a little surprise... Interior Storage!! That's right, We made the box a specific size in order to house a very practical kibble container.

When it's time to eat you just lift up the food dish to scoop out the food :-)

FOUR BOWLS?!

My sister Jen looooves (spoils) her cats. She asked me to make a four bowl feeder so that Daisy and Pookie can eat together (or separately) from this beefy pedestal.

The four ceramic bowls float on the edge of this 1" thick shelf giving it a modern look while allowing the cats easy access to their food. Along the front edge of the feeder is an experimental finishing process that leaves a unique texture as well as a
neon orange grain pattern!

Mission accomplished! The cats are happy!
